What You'll Do 

As our Director of Finance, you'll be the financial backbone of multiple benefit funds, reporting directly to the Executive Director. Your expertise will ensure the financial health and compliance of programs serving thousands of members and their families.

Core Responsibilities 

  • Financial Leadership: Oversee all accounting functions including AP, payroll, benefit payments, and general ledger across all funds 
  • Strategic Planning: Participate in business planning and coordinate annual budgeting processes 
  • Compliance Excellence: Ensure adherence to GAAP, GASB, IRC, ERISA, and other regulatory requirements 

  • Audit Coordination: Work closely with external auditors for year-end processes and compliance reporting 

  • System Management: Maintain and enhance accounting systems to support organizational needs 

  • Tax & Reporting: Coordinate all tax filings, 1099s, PBGC forms, and government reporting 

 

What We're Looking For 

Required Qualifications 

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field 

  • Experience: Minimum of 7 years of high-level accounting experience (benefit fund or non-profit preferred); will consider a mix of education and experience 

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with accounting software, MS Office Suite, and financial reporting 

  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of financial practices, tax regulations, and governmental reporting 


Preferred Qualifications 

  • CPA Designation 

  • Taft-Hartley Industry experience 

  • Familiarity with union benefit administration
